The IATC will engage citizens of all ages and abilities in a recycled glass mosaic project to increase awareness of our beloved Issaquah Alps and shared environmental conservation values. We will work with local Mosaic Artist Cheryl Smith and Environmental Watercolorist Claire Giordano to create a beautiful landscape mosaic using recycled glass pieces. Participants will learn new collaborative and artistic skills through the process of laying pieces of glass in the mosaic and gain a newfound awareness of the importance of recycling glass, inspiring all to keep our Issaquah Alps clean. In June, the mosaic will be mounted alongside the Rainier trail in downtown Issaquah for all to enjoy.
Our event will be presented in conjunction with Issaquah’s Earth Day 50th Anniversary Celebration. This will be a family friendly event with food, music, informational booths, art and activities including:
• Earth and kid friendly tunes by Recycleman
• A Recology recycling truck for kids to play in
• Art activities hosted by the Issaquah Youth Advisory Council
• AND activities and information from the IATC and our partners
